Golf Grip Size Guide

The size of your golf grips is one of the most over looked parts of your golf equipment. The wrong size golf grip can cause bad grip pressure resulting in bad shots and costly strokes. While golf grip size is mostly personal preference, here is a size guide based on glove or hand size.

Measure from crease to middle finger tip.

The Importance of the right golf grip size

The size of your golf grip may not seem important, but it can be the difference between a great round of golf and a bad one. The size of your golf grip can influence good or bad grip pressure. Grip pressure is an overlooked part of your golf swing.

Grip's too small

  • Hand fatigue
  • Excessive hand and wrist action
  • Over rotation of the club face

Grip's Just right

  • No hand fatigue
  • Consistent tempo
  • Perfect wrist release

Grip's too big

  • Limited wrist hinge and release
  • Loss of club face feel

Grips For Golfers with Arthritis

Arthritis makes holding a golf club painful, but the right grip can make a significant difference. Standard grips require more squeezing force than necessary, which puts direct pressure on inflamed joints and makes rounds increasingly uncomfortable. The right grip does two things: it reduces the effort required to hold the club securely, and it absorbs the vibration that travels through the shaft at impact. Both matter when your hands are the problem. Golfers with arthritis should be using softer grips that are midsize or oversize.
